the take
honestly, Carrie is the average high school experience. the new one makes it more modern, obviously, but it also makes it more relatable, because at its core it's a typical teenage drama tv show with a little bit of telekinesis on top. bullied, confused, angry, covered in blood. that's just high school. the only difference is most of us didn't get the powers.
this is the hosts' commentary and speculation for entertainment, not a statement of fact about anyone in it.
the backstory
Carrie is Mike Flanagan's 2026 series adaptation of Stephen King's 1974 debut novel, with all eight episodes streaming on Prime Video since October 7, 2026. Summer H. Howell plays Carrie White.
This version leans into exactly what the hosts are talking about: it's set in the social media age, and Carrie has to deal with a viral bullying scandal and the casual cruelty of modern high school while her telekinetic powers show up.
