the take
hot take, but the sketch is a catfish. aviators, hoodie, brooding energy. it's the most flattering photo on a dating profile, and the real guy did not match. from there we get into the movie, specifically the storyline where someone shows young Ted the files and he realizes the professor is trying to break him. we go back and forth on whether that reveal was part of the experiment. we land where we always do with these: it's a fictionalized movie, it needs a villain arc in two hours, and a lot of the real story is sealed, lost or never existed.
this is the hosts' commentary and speculation for entertainment, not a statement of fact about anyone in it.

- 0:00Hot take but the Unabomber sketch actually makes him look so much cooler than he actually looked in real life
- 0:05That's like basically like catfishing
- 0:08It's like putting like a way hotter photo of yourself in your dating profile cuz like his sketch makes him kind of look cool
- 0:14And like he did not look cool
- 0:17Yeah, he has those like cool aviators. Yeah hood look like broody exactly like I would never be like oh, that's like Ted
- 0:25You know yeah
- 0:27Yeah, I know he looked pretty pretty haggard when they got him at the cabin
- 0:31I also really want to know how true the whole
- 0:35storyline was with like Russell Crowe's character and then his like wife or whatever because she basically
- 0:41Opened up the files and showed him
- 0:44Like showed Ted that he was trying to break him and like force him into submission right which then
- 0:51Obviously altered him so for example if she had not done that then would he have become the Unabomber?
- 0:56I don't think so because I think that's part of the reason that he stopped basically trusting professors
- 1:01And that's why he started targeting universities
- 1:04But the other thing that I also do wonder is like I almost
- 1:07Anticipated that that was like part of the process like I thought she was purposely showing him that they were doing that
- 1:14To elicit a response well, and it very well may have been as well. Maybe but it seemed like the professor
- 1:21Didn't know that like he didn't know that he was shown the files
- 1:25Right no, I agree and also keep in mind. I mean, this is the fictionalized you know
- 1:32This is the fictionalized work of it too. We don't know exactly the twists and turns
- 1:35I mean this yeah, you got to make some artistic conceits to make it two hour, you know, engaging two hour movie
- 1:41but because you know they
- 1:44They make it seem like okay. This is his villain arc, and it's all very you know cut and dry and you know, pat
- 1:50Yes, who knows the the truth of the matter a lot of it's probably behind
- 1:57People who are long dead and records that are long lost or sealed if they ever existed at all
